Description: Using the horizontal shive with one end driven by a motor, you can show the behavior of standing waves
Demonstration:
- Turn on the driver motor set at the lowest frequency
- Increase the frequency until a standing wave is visible and note the frequency
- Increase to a multiple of this frequency and show how additional nodes form
- Do not exceed three nodes
Note: A book or adjustable stand is needed to lift the motor up so that the rods are level when the motor is in the center position.
Do not go over three nodes on each side (six in total).
