Description: This demonstration shows the conservation of mechanical energy.
It also shows objects with different moments of inertia accelerate at different speeds.
Equipment:
- Wooden Ramp
- Round sphere, Disk, and Open ring with same diameter
- Meter sick
Demonstration Procedure:
- Position the three objects on the top of the ramp and hold them there with a meter stick.
- When ready, release the meter stick so all objects start at the same time.
- Note which ones move down the ramp the fastest.
