Description: A simple ball on a string to show uniform circular motion wherein the centripetal force is provided by the tension in the string.
Equipment:
- Tennis ball (or some other ball)
- String
Setup Procedure: (To make a new ball on string with a tennis ball)
- Poke a small hole in the tennis ball.
- Tie a knot on the end of a string.
- Force the knot into the hole in the tennis ball.
Demonstration Procedure:
- Swing the ball around your head, vertically or horizontally.
