Description: This shows that the liquid pressure is the same for any given depth below the surface, regardless of the shape of the containing vessel.
Can be followed up by Capillary Tubes (2A20.10).

Equipment:

• Pascal’s Vases (two types)
• Food coloring
• Beaker

Setup Procedure:

1. In the beaker mix a few drops of food coloring with water.

Demonstration Procedure:

1. Fill the two vases with the colored water.
2. Note that the size and shape of the tube does not determine the height of the water.
