Description: This demonstration shows the difference between a conductor and an insulator.
Equipment:
- Two Braun Electroscopes
- Rods and Fur
- A conductor wire that can be wrapped around both (such as copper wire).
- An insulator wire that can be wrapped around both (such as string).
Demonstration Procedure:
- Connect two electroscopes together with string and charge one electroscope. Note that string is an insulator. (Middle picture)
- Connect two electroscopes together with wire and charge one electroscope. Note that wire is a conductor. (Bottom picture)
